Garstang Cars Ltd now known as GCL Taxis
Keener eyed individuals in Garstang and the surrounding area will have noticed a subtle change to one of the regions best regarded taxi company’s vehicles.
Garstang Cars Ltd have changed their vehicle livery to read ‘GCL’ accompanied by the established phone number 01995 607777 and the addition of a new number, 01253 420000.
Also, callers to the company will now be greeted with “GCL Taxis” instead of the familiar “Garstang Cars”.
The reason for the change? Managing Director Bob Horman explains: “We’re expanding our service to include the Over Wyre area, making available the same great service and prices that Garstang and the surrounding villages have benefited from since we began in 2008.
“Market research has shown that approaching these areas using the name ‘Garstang Cars’ and an ‘01995’ dialling code may lead to confusion, with people assuming that using a Garstang based taxi company will incur greater cost due to the distance being travelled to collect the passengers.
“Existing customers have benefited from GCL Taxis’ philosophy of not charging any call-out fees to remote areas and our low ‘first mile’ rate of only £2.50. We also operate a single tariff, this means no increase in fares after midnight, weekends, or bank holidays, including Christmas and New Year.
The 24-hour taxi company has recently recruited several new drivers and added to their fleet of vehicles to meet the demand that this expansion will create.
Said Marketing Director Sharon Cross: “Having over 30 cars, mini-buses and coaches, many of which can accommodate wheelchairs and mobility scooters, means that we have vehicles spread across the region and are able to respond to our customers' needs quickly.
“We will continue to easily meet existing demand and provide a valued service to our new customers in the Over Wyre area.
Sharon continues: “As we grow as a company and our catchment area increases we have several exciting employment opportunities available. We welcome enquiries from anyone who would like to join our team, whether they already hold a Wyre Borough Council private hire badge or are interested in gaining one.”
